The 2016 Janine Sutto Awards
It’s time to send your nomination form.
At the March 6th opening night event of the exhibit, the 2013 Janine Sutto Awards were presented on behalf of the MAIH by MAIH spokewoman Janine Sutto.
The MAIH is proud to announce the winners of this year’s awards: Professional actor Michael Nimbley and promising visual artist Gianni Mastantuono tied for first place in the “Artist” category, while the “Artistic Project” category award went to Just Fake It, a theatrical production of the Joe, Jack and John Company. This year Mme. Sutto bestowed her “Coup de Coeur” award, recognizing her favourite submission, to “Projet Beton” by the non-profit organization Sans Oublier le Sourire.
It’s been nine years already since this event first appeared on the scene to promote the talents of artists with an intellectual disability working on the sidelines, and to publicize creative efforts fostering the social participation of intellectually handicapped artists.
We would like to sincerely thank the jury members for their commitment and dedication. We also extend our thanks to our partners in this endeavor, the City of Montréal’s Access Culture network, Exeko and the CRDITED Montréal. Until next year! Further information on this year’s winners can be found on our website.
