An association that exists BECAUSE OF and FOR its members should be able to mobilize its members for purposes other than their attendance at activities and their use of available services. The base of an association like the MAIH, founded BY families, FOR and ON BEHALF OF people with an intellectual disability, MUST be the members themselves.
The MAIH Corn Roast Party!
This activity is an annual event that made its debut just last year to kick off the Fall session at the Association. Held in the park around the corner from the MAIH building, members and friends of the Association mingle with park-goers from the MAIH building’s neighbourhood… everyone is welcome!
Whether it’s for running into old friends or meeting new acquaintances, or to experience an easy and fun registration process while signing up for the Fall activities, The MAIH Corn Roast Party is the place to be on the Saturday after Labour Day. On the program: music, various games and surprises… and the corn roast!
The next ‘MAIH Corn Roast Party! will be held on Sunday, September 11th, 2016.
‘Tis the Season! Party
The Montréal Association for the Intellectually Handicapped traditionally throws a party for its members every year during the holiday season. The party is a special occasion for seeing friends, having fun and winding up the year.
Our members look forward to this event, with more than 120 turning out every year to celebrate the holidays in style. Good food, presents for all, and dancing in a festive ambiance ensure that the MAIH party for the holiday season is a tremendous success!
The next ‘Tis the Season Party! will be held on Friday, December 9th, 2016.
Opportunities for volunteering at the MAIH are many and varied, and include working as (or assisting) facilitators for our activities and workshops, providing accompaniment to our members, doing translation, photography, helping with filing and data entry, etc.
