Associative life

Associative life is essential at the MAIH, as it creates occasions for members to get together with their families and the MAIH team. It translates into numerous activities, as well as volunteering, which is vital to sustaining the Association and provides opportunities for everyone (beginning with our members) to get involved.

Learning to live independently

From cooking, eating to stress management, through technological skills, time management, budgeting, and without forgetting home security. Valérie supports the participants towards an independent life and helps them achieve their learning goals with personalized follow up.

Inclusion and social participation activities

MAIH is committed to increasing the inclusion and social participation of its members. To do this, we continue offering various cultural and sporting activities in different places where we raise awareness to the public about the reality of intellectual disability.

Skill development workshops

Participants in these workshops develop and practice skills they can apply in their daily lives. More than 150 places in various types of workshops are offered each year.

Discussion groups, information sessions and talks

Designed for families of people living with intellectual disabilities and focused on a variety of themes, including sensitive topics such as planning for the future, sexuality, and emotional relationships.

Family outings

This section contains more details on the various activities offered to people with MAIH family memberships, including discussion groups, information sessions and talks, but also family outings.

Out-of-Town Stay Program

At summer camps or outdoor weekends, MAIH members can develop their independence and enjoy a relaxing vacation outside Montreal.
